Technology Overview
What Is Heat Transfer Printing?Heat transfer printing is a decoration method where a full-colour design is first printed onto a specialised transfer paper or film, then bonded permanently to the garment using a heat press machine applying controlled temperature (typically 160–200°C) and pressure for a set dwell time.
The heat activates the adhesive layer between the transfer and the fabric — causing the ink layer to release from the carrier and fuse with the garment surface. Once cooled and the carrier peeled away, the design is permanently bonded, producing a vibrant, durable print with sharp edge definition and excellent colour accuracy.
Heat transfer’s key advantage over other digital methods is its compatibility with virtually all fabric types — including 100% polyester, nylon, spandex, and synthetic blends that DTG cannot print on effectively. This makes it the preferred technique for sportswear, performance apparel, and technical garments where the fabric is primarily synthetic.

Technique 01
Inkjet Heat TransferA design is printed onto specialised inkjet transfer paper using a wide-format inkjet printer, then heat-pressed onto the garment. Supports full-colour photographic artwork and complex gradients. Works on both light and dark garments (light paper for light fabrics, dark paper for dark fabrics). Compatible with most fabric types including cotton, poly-cotton blends, and light synthetic fabrics.
Technique 02
Dye Sublimation TransferSublimation dyes are printed onto transfer paper and heat-pressed onto polyester fabrics — the heat converts the dye to a gas which penetrates the polyester fibres and permanently dyes them. Produces the softest possible feel with zero surface presence and exceptional wash durability. Ideal for all-over prints, sportswear kits, and performance apparel on 100% polyester. Does not work on cotton or natural fibres.
Technique 03
Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)Coloured vinyl film is cut to shape using a digital cutter and then heat-applied to the garment. Produces sharp, clean-edged graphic elements in solid or metallic colours. Excellent durability and a slightly raised, smooth surface feel. Ideal for simple logos, numbers, names, and graphic elements requiring crisp edge definition — particularly for athletic team apparel and workwear identification.

Laser Heat Transfer
Toner-based printing onto specialised laser transfer paper — producing high-resolution, sharp-edged designs with excellent fine-detail reproduction. Particularly effective for small text, intricate patterns, and designs requiring precise colour reproduction at small scale. Compatible with cotton, poly-cotton, and polyester. Often used for premium label printing and detailed graphic applications on structured garments.
Technique 05
Flex / Flocked TransferA flexible polyurethane or flocked film printed or cut to shape and heat-applied to the garment. Designed to flex and stretch with the fabric without cracking or peeling — ideal for activewear, compression garments, and stretch fabrics with high elongation. Flocked transfers add a velvet-like surface texture. Available in solid colours, metallic, glitter, and reflective finishes.
Technique 06
Digital Cut Transfer (DCT)
A full-colour digital print is combined with precision die-cutting to produce transfer panels that cover large areas of a garment — including all-over, full-chest, or full-back applications with complex shapes and detailed edge profiles. Ideal for fashion collections, all-over pattern prints, and garments requiring seamless-looking large-format designs that wrap around the garment contour without cut-lines.
